“For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. My frame was not hidden from you when I was mad e in the secret place, when I was woven together in the depths of the earth.” Psalm 139
I’m willing to bet that you don’t love your body right now. I actually don’t know too many people who do love their body. They always think they’re too fat or too thin. They wish they had a different nose, better eyebrows, and fuller lips. If they have straight hair, they want curly. If they have curls, they spend 45 minutes straightening their hair in the morning.
They look in the mirror and see huge pores, bulging pimples, and eyes shaped all wrong. Their thighs carry dimpled fat, their tummies don’t showcase washboard abs, and their arms jiggle. They look in the mirror and sigh because they’re just so ugly.
Self-hatred begins early and stays with you for a lifetime unless you realize this:
You are wonderfully made. Everything about your body is wonderful. You are absolutely gorgeous, so start believing it. I want you to go to your mirror right this second and say, “Why hello there, beautiful you!”
I want you to thank God for every perfect part of your body. Then, I want you to stop thinking about your body at all. Just forget about it. You’ve got things to do today, and your body was given to you to help you do those things. Your feet have awesome places to travel. Your hands have amazing things to touch and help others with. Your eyes have incredible sights to behold. Your beautiful nose has delicious scents to inhale, and your strong arms have many people to hug today.
Thank God for every part of your body, and then ask Him to help you love your body and then to stop thinking about it so much!
Write down the 5 best things about your body. Thank God for how wonderfully made you are!
