“He is able to save to the uttermost those who draw near to God through him, since he always lives to make intercession for them.” Hebrews 7:25
Do you ever feel at the end of your rope? Is there a place in your life where you’re giving all you’ve got but there’s little good coming from your efforts? Have you given up on a relationship? Been betrayed by a friend again? Are you struggling to believe that God is at work?
Although you may feel hopeless, God has not given up. . . . on you or on your broken circumstances. He always knows a way out. Amazingly, it’s the best way out.
God delights in rescuing his people. . . . He loves to help! Sometimes asking for help feels like ripping off a bandaid. . . . You know its going to be hard to do, but once you do it, you feel better. By asking God for help, we admit our need and admit that God is able to answer our need. It’s okay to cry out to him, to beg and plead for him to rescue you and make good out of a bad situation. He loves when his children cry out to him.
His timing and plans may be different from ours, but he comes to rescue at just the right time. We see this dramatically illustrated when the Israelite people have escaped from the slavery of Egypt (Exodus14), but then find themselves caught between the Red Sea and Pharaoh’s huge and powerful army. Just when they thought there was no way out, when they were needy and desperate, stuck again, with nowhere else to go, God provided a way out.
Perhaps they found it hard to believe in God, but here, God shows his faithfulness. Through his miracles. . .a sea parted, a storm calmed, a repentant heart, honesty before him. . . he is glorified. His plans and works are beyond our comprehension. He cares for his dearly loved children even in the midst of the most hopeless of situations. What Jesus did on the cross frees our hearts from their deepest bondage. There is no place too dark or too hopeless for Christ to overcome.
Where is your heart discouraged and overwhelmed? Where do you feel stuck? Jesus speaks tenderly into those places of hopelessness and frees his people from their power. He works to break the bondage of sin and delights to make all things new.
