“This is the day that the Lord made. Let us rejoice and be glad in it.” Psalm 118:24
You have right now – and no other moment—guaranteed. After all this time I’ve been alive, I’m finally learning to enjoy moments.
Remember this: Satan likes to keep us focused on our past—the realm of regret and shame—or on our future—the realm of fear and worry. God wants us focused on now. We’re told in scripture to forget the past and not to worry about the future. We’re told that “this is the day the Lord has made. Let us rejoice and be glad in it.”
This is the day. This. Right here. This very moment.
Take a second right now and savor it. For me, this means relishing that sip of coffee. It means noticing the warm wool sweater against my arms. It means thanking God for the sound of that bird outside my window. It means gazing at the vibrant colors of the season. It means smelling the grass. It means hugging a family member with all my strength because she is right here and might not be tomorrow. It means taking a deep breath and sitting with God right in this moment.
This is the day. This.
Can you write down everything around you that involves the five senses? Write it down in a journal and thank God for this.
