“Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, in the image of God he created them.” Genesis 1:26b
One of the draws for us to come back to camp each year is the special relationships we have that God has given us all over the years. For some reason relationships just seem easier at Greystone. We have friends who love us unconditionally, pray for us, understand the pressures we face throughout the year.
Of all the things that draw us back to camp, for most of us, it is primarily the relationships we have with friends, counselors, group leaders…even the directors. Being created in the image of God means we are created in the image of a relationship, Father, Son and Holy Spirit. We are MADE for relationships.
Actually, we are made for the only relationship that will truly fill us and provides for all the longings of our hearts. When we come to camp we are reminded (whether we are aware of it or not) we are being drawn to the ultimate, True relationship in which we will find true joy, peace and intimacy, our relationship with Jesus.
Our relationships at camp reflect (albeit imperfectly) the kind of relationships we were meant for and will ultimately experience in heaven. For now, God provides the grace and strength we need in His perfect love to love those around us the way He planned. Forgiveness, grace, love, reconciliation. All those gifts in relationships that God gives us are part of our relationships at camp and just keep us returning.
Prayer: Lord, thank you for creating me for you….the one true relationships my heart longs for. Help me to rest in your love so that I can love those around me in a way that will point them to you. In Jesus name.
