Made in His Image

“Because you are precious in my eyes, and honored, and I love you, I give men in return for you, peoples in exchange for your life. Fear not, for I am with you; I will bring your offspring from the east, and from the west I will gather you.” Isaiah 43:4-5

Sometimes I daydream about being a mom. I have heard stories about how much you love your baby with all your heart and want to give them everything you can. So I can’t wait to dress up my children in little clothes and play with them and tell them stories and teach them things and protect them. I know so many moms (mine included) who do everything they can for their children. You get to have a child who might look like you and like the same things as you. You can watch them grow up and develop a personality. It seems so fun!

And then I start thinking about all of the costs of having a baby. You have to dedicate your life to them and watch them and feed them and pay for their expenses and make sure they’re safe. Children aren’t perfect and they mess up and you still have to love them. Even when they make you mad or upset you have to rise above and read them a bedtime story. You have to do everything with someone else in mind first. You will have no more free time to just do things for yourself. Being a parent will be exhausting, expensive, and scary. That does not seem so fun!

God must love us so much. He thinks we are precious and honored. He would pay any expense for our life. We mess up and he still loves us. He protects us so that we do not have to have fear. There is no flaw in us. We are His children. He loves us all the time with more love than we can ever imagine.

You are so loved. Our parents love us with as much earthly love that is possible. God loves us even more than that! His love for us goes beyond this earth. His love is heavenly. I don’t quite know what that means, but I’m sure it is wondrous. His love for us is eternal and powerful. He has the ability to pour His love into anything, and He chooses to love us.

God is intentional. He created us with purpose. As Dr. Seuss would say, “Today you are You, that is truer than true. There is no one alive who is Youer than You.” It is miraculous that we can grow up striving to live for God and there will be nothing to be ashamed of because He carefully made us. We do not have to be insecure with who we are because God loves us more than we can ever dream of loving someone. He has already designed us to be unbelievable women who will change the world. When we live for Christ, we are developing into the awesome young people that God wants. So have no fear.
