Ambassadors for Christ

“You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.” Matthew 5:14-16

One thing I participated in as I was growing up was a weekly girls bible study. My bible study was led by my mentor and was made up of a group of girls who were striving to live their life for the Lord. As we were discussing witnessing for the Lord with our lives, our leader told us, “You might be the only Jesus people see.” Wow. That comment has stuck with me for years and is one of my biggest encouragements today.

God has created each of us for a special purpose. I believe that each one of us was created to glorify God. One way we do this is by being a witness for Christ to other people.

We are Christ’s ambassadors. What if you talked to the girl who sits by herself every day at lunch? What would happen if you did a random act of kindness for a stranger at Target? The good thing is that we are not expected to do this by ourselves. Christ has equipped us with unique gifts that allow us to spread his love and light to others. He has also surrounded us with people and communities of people to do life with and to be that light together.

How can you be a witness for God today? How can you share His love with others at school today? Remember, you might be the only Jesus people ever see! You have a big job to do, and you can do it!
