“I know that You can do all things, and that no purpose of Yours can be thwarted.” Job 42:2
I don’t think I’m God… most of the time. But I sure act like it sometimes! Do you know what I mean?
I catch myself thinking that I’m the ultimate god of my life, that I know what’s best for me and that I can control how it goes. I make a plan for how I think things should go and then say “Hey God, I’ve got a really great plan and it would be great if you could make it happen.” So backwards!
In the face of my arrogance comes Job 42:2. Did you catch what that verse says? It’s incredible.
God can do all things and NO purpose of His can be thwarted. God is good at being God. If He wants something for me, there is nothing I can do to get in its way, and if He sees something better for me than what I see, there is nothing I can do to make it happen.
No purpose of His can be thwarted, and no purpose of His is anything but Good. Yes, good with a capital “G” - it’s that good. His plan for you is to bring you life and grow you closer to Him. If it’s different than yours, you can have complete confidence that His is better. WAY better.
In this, you and I can both relax and breath in deep hope for our future. You can’t get in the way of God’s plan - there’s nothing you can do to mess up His purpose for you. He is working on your behalf, working in the midst of our fumbling mistakes and selfishness.
So take a deep breath and smile - He HAS you and you are headed somewhere good. Good doesn’t necessarily mean easy (almost ever) but it is worthwhile and God-breathed.
You can hand over everything today to Him. He can do ALL things, even on our darkest days, when we feel equipped to do basically nothing. He cannot be thwarted and He is so good.
