“Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth! Serve the Lord with gladness!Come into his presence with singing! Know that the Lord, he is God! It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture. Enter his gates with thanksgiving, and his courts with praise! Give thanks to him; bless his name! For the Lord is good; his steadfast love endures forever, and his faithfulness to all generations.” Psalm 100: 1-5
Something I’m realizing in this season is how powerful worship music is to change my situation. I love all types of music, but in the last month, I started realizing that I had not been listening to worship music for a while, and I challenged myself to start my mornings with this type of listening instead of playing an audiobook or something else. What is amazing is that it actually worked!
I started playing Christian music in the mornings and automatically felt a shift in my heart towards how my day was going to go. Was I still anxious sometimes? Yes, but I was declaring God was in control and loved me through these songs. I started feeling deep peace and comfort. Did I always want to do it? No, but I do believe we become what we ingest, and I want to be more Christ-like, so my heart does well to focus more on worshiping God than singing the newest pop-song on the radio (even though I still love and do that quite often too!). Now it’s become a habit, and I hope it’s one that you will consider adopting too.
God is GOOD to us, and one way we can show our love and gratitude to him is to worship like Psalm 100 calls us to. Below is a list of just some of the songs I’m loving in this season. These songs bring me peace and joy and help my heart and mind connect to God, and I hope they do the same for you. If there are other worship songs you’re loving, please let us know so we can be listening too!
