“But God chose what is foolish in the world to shame the wise; God chose what is weak in the world to shame the strong…” 1 Corinthians 1:27
Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’ve probably heard of a book/movie series called “The Diary of a Wimpy Kid.” The series revolves around the life of Greg Heffley, a scrawny kid moving from elementary school to middle school. Millions of books and movie tickets have been sold because we can all identify with this story.
At some point in our life, we have all felt wimpy, scrawny, and undersized. Even worse, we live in a world that values strength, power, and influence. We can even feel scrawny in our spiritual lives as well.
We hear stories of people who have dramatic spiritual lives and suddenly we feel weak and foolish by comparison. However, when you really start examining the characters mentioned in the Bible, you find out that it reads just like a diary of wimpy Christians.
The amazing thing about the Bible is that it is full of weak, imperfect people that God used to do amazing things. This is very hopeful for Christians today because it means that God can use you in your weakness to do amazing things for His glory.
God chooses to use our weakness to display His strength. This means that you do not have to be the best, the smartest, or the coolest for God to use you. This means that because of Jesus you have been adopted into God’s family and that He actually delights in using you to impact the world around you.
