“All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.” 2 Timothy 3:16-17
2022 was the first year I did a full Bible reading plan, and it was one of the best decisions I made the entire year! Having grown up in church and been a Christian for most of my life, I’ve regularly read the Bible for years, but had never read the entire book cover to cover. The experience made me so amazed at what a kind and loving God we serve.
From creation, to the fall, through God’s rescue of the Israelites, all their sinning, and every judge, prophet, and king God put on the throne to try and remedy the situation, to 400 hundred years of silence, then Jesus’s birth, life, death, and resurrection, the gift of the Holy Spirit, the birth of the Church, and the promise that Jesus will come again, the Bible is a beautiful story of God’s love for His creation. It’s a book filled with messy, ordinary people that a holy, beautiful God chose to use to bring His kingdom to earth, and the best part is, as followers of Jesus, we become part of this story too!
2 Timothy 3 says that “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work,” and I love this because as I read through the Bible it became so clear to me me how God orchestrated so many people and situations to bring His word to us. What an incredible gift that we have God’s words to show us His character and help us walk through every circumstance we encounter. As we dive deep into God’s story, we find wisdom, correction, comfort, and vision for how to walk out the lives we’ve been given (as Timothy says, we become “equipped for every good work”).
If you’re looking for a way to grow your faith this year, take five minutes and search online for a Bible reading plan that works best for you. Then commit to getting in the Word each day. As you dive into this epic story of God’s love for His people, I promise you’ll walk away changed from your experience.
