“Restore to me the joy of your salvation and grant me a willing spirit, to sustain me.” Psalm 51:12
Right this very moment, ask Jesus to fill your heart with joy. Joy is deeper than happiness; it’s that abiding, glorious, peaceful, sense of well-being and hope. It’s happiness that lasts and lasts. It goes deep into your soul and makes you feel like the whole world shimmers with God’s beauty and goodness.
Joy is a sparkle in your eye and a bounce in your step. It’s all that anticipation that great things are in store for you. It’s a song you have to sing. It’s Jesus in you, filling you up with all His great goodness.
Pray today that you can “ever sing for joy” as you take refuge in Jesus. Pray today that you stand out from the crowd because Jesus has “[anointed] you with the oil of joy.” Pray that whatever joy has seeped out of you that God would restore you to full joy today.
You cannot produce joy on your own. God gives it freely when we ask him. Joy is a fruit of the spirit that naturally grows within the heart of a believer who abides in Jesus.
Pray to be anointed with the oil of joy today. Imagine it running down over your whole self. It’s going to be a great day!
On a scale of 1-10, how joyful do you feel today? Ask God to fill you up with joy again.
