“For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.” Hebrews 4:12
Reading the Bible can seem like a very daunting task. The Bible is big and the language can be confusing. Because we don’t know where to start or what the Bible is talking about, many of us choose not to read it. But think about what the Bible is. It is the Word of God!
It is absolutely true and given to us in love. No other book in the world is “living and active.” When we read the Bible, it works in us and changes us. This is something that happens over time. The more you read your Bible, the more you understand it and the more you feel the Holy Spirit working in you.
Psalm 119:105 says, “Your word is a lamp unto my feet and a light to my path.” God’s Word guides us, and it shows us how we are meant to live our lives like nothing else can.
If you aren’t in the habit of reading the Bible, that’s okay! You can start! Set an attainable goal for yourself. Maybe it’s reading one chapter a day. But I encourage you to read the Bible and you’ll be surprised at how God speaks to you and begins to change you from the inside out.
I am a strong believer that what we watch, listen to and read begins to come out in what we say and how we act. And luckily, this is even truer of the Bible. Meditate on God’s word, write down some favorite verses, and He will begin to transform your heart.
