Apps Alert
“And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, BE ALERT and always keep on praying.” Ephesians 6:18
If you know me, you know I love apps! I particularly like practical apps. I have a sports app that alerts me with the latest game scores. I have a calendar app that alerts me when something needs to be done. How helpful are those??? I know, right?
Wouldn’t it be cool to have an app that could help us in our Christian walk? It could alert us when temptation is coming. It could beep at us when we are about to say something we shouldn’t. It could sound the alarm for us when we are about to “go off” on our sister or our brother. It could warn us when we are about to make poor choices on the weekend. Wouldn’t that be great? Who wouldn’t want that?
The good news is that that app is available to us as Christians! And it’s FREE! It doesn’t come to us through the app store, but through Jesus. It says in Scripture that He has given us His VERY SPIRIT! We have Christ in us! He will alert us!
When temptation is lurking around the corner or when we are about to engage in an activity that isn’t good for us, He lets us know. Not only that, but it says that He will provide a way out for us whenever we are tempted! As Christians, we know that it is not a matter of IF we will be tempted, but WHEN we will be tempted. So let us stand guard. Let us be alert!
In order to prepare our children to be ready for whatever comes their way, we have taught them to pray a simple prayer each morning when they wake up. It is taken straight from Proverbs 27:12. “Lord, help us to see trouble coming long before it gets here. And give us the wisdom to know what to do and the courage to do it. Amen.”
He will do it! And that is better than any app you could buy.
