“We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us. If your gift is prophesying, then prophesy in accordance with your faith; if it is serving, then serve; if it is teaching, then teach; if it is to encourage, then give encouragement; if it is giving, then give generously, if it is to lead, do it diligently; if it is to show mercy, do it cheerfully.” Romans 12:6-8
God granted us each a set of unique gifts and abilities. Sometimes, it’s easy to feel like we should be more like “x” person with “x” gifts, or follow “x” person, who is on “x” career path. This comparison can be both frustrating and disheartening.
It can be eliminated, however, by going straight to the source of our gifts, God, and asking Him to affirm us in our unique calling. We can ask God to help us embrace our uniqueness and use our individual gifts and talents to the best of our abilities.
Prayer: God, affirm in me my strengths and grant me opportunities to use them in ways that are glorifying to You. Help me hone my gifts and talents so I can be a light to this world and carry out Your will. Help me embrace my unique gifts and talents in a manner where I do not compare myself to others. I pray for confidence and courage to be the person you created me to be.
