Keep Your Sight on What's Above

“Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue, and if there is anything praiseworthy – meditate on these things.” Philippians 4:8

It is easy in the world today to let our mind get polluted with things that lead us away from God’s truth. We have to make concerted efforts to guard our minds and hearts from that which pulls us away from God and dims our bright lights. God instructs us to set our sights on that which is pure and holy, noble and beautiful, just and right.

What are some ways that you can set your mind on what’s above?

A few of my favorite ways to do this are by listening to positive music, having conversations with friends about the work God is doing in our lives, and discussing the good and beauty in the world, which can be found in art, literature, and many of our everyday experiences.

Questions for Reflection:

  1. What are you filling your mind with?
  2. Spending your time on?
  3. Is it building you up?
