“For you are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for you to do.” Ephesians 2:10
Inadequate. That word hangs heavy on my tongue, but we’ve all felt it haven’t we? It’s that sharp pang that says, “Who are you to be doing this?” “Are you trained for this?” “Are you really enough?”
Yikes. I can count on two hands the number of times I’ve had those kind of thoughts today. They’ll give you a little shiver and have you backing away slowly, hoping no one realizes that someone like you was trying to do something like that. They’ll tell you “you’re not worthy” and “who do you think you are?”
While those voices are strong, if we train ourselves to listen to the voice of our Maker, His is even stronger. Pause for a second with me and hear what He’s saying in this verse.
First of all, He made you. Secondly, He made you to do GOOD WORKS. Those works are not impossible, because He prepared in advance for you to do them.
That’s incredible! Everything that hangs over you today, that you’re wondering, “how will I ever be enough?” God has prepared in advance for you to do. The power that raised Jesus from the dead is in you, enabling you to accomplish everything in front of you today.
So take a deep breath and let it soak in that while we are all inadequate in 100 ways, the One who is within you is powerful and enabling you to do the good works in front of you today. He is sufficient when we are insufficient. He is able and greater than what you face in the world. And He has prepared you for this very day.
