“For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well. My frame was not hidden from you, when I was being made in secret, intricately woven in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed substance; in your book were written, every one of them, the days that were formed for me, when as yet there was none of them.” Psalm 139:13-16
As a first grade teacher, I receive pictures and notes almost daily from my sweet six and seven year old students. These surprises are very special to me and I cherish them. The cabinet in my classroom is covered with these works of art. Some of my favorite pictures include an illustration of Elsa, interesting portraits of me, and “I love you” notes. There is one surprise I have received that is the most special of all.
On a busy Monday morning, one of my students came into the classroom smiling and handed me a note that said, “Miss Reynolds, we are important to Jesus.” I was blown away by how much a simple note from a precious six-year-old girl could impact my life. I hung this note up on my cabinet in the middle of the other notes and pictures. It is very valuable to me.
I am important to Jesus. My six-year-old student is important to Jesus. YOU are important to Jesus. If that simple note was so valuable to me, can you imagine how valuable your LIFE is to Jesus? Like it says in Psalms, He knew you before you were even born and He knows all the days you have ahead of you.
He knows you, He has created you, He treasures you and He values you. He understands and knows you completely. YOU are important to Jesus!
