“God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.” Psalm 46:1
When I was younger, my family took a trip to New York City. As soon as we arrived, the sky fell out, and it was pouring rain.
We were caught walking twenty blocks without rain jackets through what may as well have been a waterpark. Finally somewhere along the street, we found umbrellas; however, those kept getting blown back at us, and only provided temporary relief. We were miserably cold and soaking wet. The only relief came when we made it to the hotel, changed into warm clothes, and were completely dry.
A lot of times we look to things in life as temporary solutions. I’ll be happy if I get good grades, hang out with the right people, have the best clothes; but only God can provide refuge.
He alone is our strength. A fortress that can protect us no matter what sort of trouble comes our way. Rain or shine, God can protect us.
