Take Off Your Filter

“So humble yourselves under the mighty power of God, and at the right time he will lift you up in honor. Cast all your worries and care to God, for he cares about you.” 1 Peter 5:6-7

When you look at others’ prayer lives, you often see that they might take a minute to pray before our meal, before they doze off at night, and maybe even before they head inside to a big day at work. Typically our prayers consist of us thanking God for all the wonderful things he has given us that day and asking him to grant us his simple gifts of love, patience, or maybe even grace to get us through the day.

It’s easy to find times to pray. We can pray in the car while we’re driving, when we’re walking to class, while we’re on a run, really the opportunities are endless. However, do you ever sit down and tell God how you’re really doing, how you’re really feeling, and what you need him to mentor you through?

We can pray thirty times a day for one minute at a time, but that amount of time will never equal up to five or ten minutes of time set aside to just engage in deep prayer with the Lord.

We let so much in the world consume us, when in reality this world is just now and God’s world is forever. So, why wouldn’t we ask God to help us make the best of this world and mentor us along to be prepared for eternity in Heaven? Give it a shot.

Take five minutes of your day and just fall to your knees. Take off your filter and tell God about everything. There is no need to hold back because he already knows and the sense of relief you will feel will amaze you. Tell him about your worries, your anxieties, your struggles, your fears, your pleasures, tell him everything and just cast it on him.

God is standing with arms opened wide waiting for you to cast all of your worries to him so he can take them and mend your heart, so let him. Don’t drown in the ways of this world. Open your heart, fall to your knees, take off your filter, and watch how God will begin to transform you.
