He Won't Start Failing You Now
“Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the Lord will personally go ahead of you. He will be with you; he will never fail you nor abandon you.” Deuteronomy 31:8
After my roommate got enagaged last August, I made arrangements to move in with four girls I didn’t really know very well. Somewhere in the midst of the eight crazy weeks between engagement and wedding/moving time, I lost my job due to budget cuts. If you are picturing a train wreck wandering around in human form, you’ve probably got a fairly accurate visual of myself as I packed and unpacked boxes last fall.
The first morning that I woke up in my new home, I found a sweet post-it left by a new roommate. The above verse was scribbled on it, reminding me not to be afraid and that the Lord always goes ahead of me. The verse was followed by a simple “I’m so glad you live here now!”
Whether we have a few unanswered questions or whether we feel as if our lives are spinning out of control, it is such a privilege to cling to the fact that God has already made it to the other side. He has gone before us, and He already knows the answers.
I was driving home recently, and just in one of “those” moods. Even though I am already watching in awe as God assembles puzzle pieces of my life’s next season, I definitely have my moments of fear. In this particular moment, I clearly heard the words, “Have I ever failed you?!”
I pray that I will always cling to this truth. He has not failed us, and He never will.
Have you ever found yourself in a situation of unknowns? Maybe even in this moment you are worrying about relationships, things at school, or at home.These years are filled with so much transition and uncertainty, that it can easily feel as if you are swimming against the tide. I am so thankful that we can cling to the truth that God is constant and He never ever fails.
I will close with the following quote from Tim Keller’s book King’s Cross. “Are you trying to hurry Jesus? Are you impatient with the waiting? Let him take you by the hand; let him do what he wants to do. He loves you completely. He knows what he’s doing.”
Jesus loves us completely. That means that He has a plan and a purpose for us, and He absolutely will not fail us as He walks us through this life.
